Safe and active routes to school
Above is a Photo of Garth Webb Secondary School in Oakville. There are over 100 bikes in this photo and many more that are not seen here.
As a trustee, I can influence budgets, processes, and policies, as well as make connections and build relationships between residents, school boards, local groups and local associations, and municipal, regional, provincial and federal governments.

I believe that as a trustee, I can support safe and active routes to school in the following ways:

• Encouraging and rewarding:
o Students, staff, visitors and vendors that that use active or alternate transportation to get to school
o Community participation to identify and report concerns and solutions

• Encouraging discussion between HDSB and city staff and committees to suggest and improve conditions in the control of the city that make active transportation more appealing, quicker, and safer

• Encouraging other trustees to formalize new processes and policies, review and improve current processes and policies to enable improvements for safe and active routes to school.
• Seek ways to allocate ongoing funding to improve in these areas
