Chris Goff for Halton District School Board Trustee (Wards 1 and 2)
Physical and Mental Health
As a trustee, I can influence budgets, processes, and policies, as well as make connections and build relationships between residents, school boards, local groups and local associations, and municipal, regional, provincial and federal governments.

I believe that as a trustee, I can support physical and mental health in the following ways:

• Encouraging and rewarding:
o active transportation to and from school
o participation in extracurricular activities
o students to start new groups or clubs

• Consistent, easily understood regular communication of safety rules, responsibilities, and accountabilities:
o In class
o In extracurricular activities
o On the school bus
• Encouraging the development of a psychologically safe way for the school community to ask for and receive support, and speak up about concerns, ideas or questions without the fear of being ridiculed, teased, dismissed ideas etc.
• Listening to and empowering the community to share their ideas to address these issues and any that they may have
• Encouraging other trustees to formalize new processes and policies, review and improve current processes and policies to enable improvements in physical and mental health
• Seek ways to allocate ongoing funding to improve in these areas
